“Upbeat” returns to The New Mom Fair 2009!
Back by popular demand, Merenda Ramirez and Kate Janzen bring back their special brand of music to The New Mom Fair 2009.
Last year, Upbeat entertained adults and children alike with children’s songs from the Disney collection, contemporary pop songs from acts like Coldplay and Kelly Clarkson, and originally composed material by Merenda and Kate. Currently attending California State University Sacramento and part of the award winning Jazz/Vocal program, Kate and Merenda are talented contributors to that program.
Upbeat will be playing for The New Mom Fair 2009 on Sunday, October 18th, 2009 from 11am-3pm at the Beresford Community Center and Beresford Park at 2720 Alameda de Las Pulgas in San Mateo, CA.

Art Sirota to play at The New Mom Fair 2009!
Art Sirota, a local guitarist and vocalist who has been playing throughout the Bay Area for years and is working on his 8th CD is coming to play at The New Mom Fair 2009!Art's music is upbeat, witty, and whimsical. His original songs are for children and grown-ups of all ages. His sound has been considered to be similar to Bob Dylan, James Taylor, and Paul McCartney according to CD Baby.
Art's 7th CD "Ladybug in My Soup" features sixteen new songs for children that are catchy and child-tested.
Parents will find themselves humming along with the choruses and children reciting the lyrics hours after the cd is done playing.We are thrilled to have discovered Art Sirota and know that you will be too. Speaker Announcement!! Kaiser Permanente's Dr. Tina Tan to Speak at The New Mom Fair 2009
We are very pleased to announce that Kaiser Permanente's stellar Ob/Gyn, Tina O. Tan, MD, will be speaking at the The New Mom Fair 2009!
Dr. Tan is a Bay Area native who was born and raised in San Francisco. In fact, she was born at Kaiser San Francisco and is very excited to have come full circle, joining the Kaiser Permanente family in the Daly City medical office as an Ob/Gyn.
Dr. Tan chose the field of obstetrics and gynecology because she wanted to care for patients throughout all aspects of their lives. She loves the fact that she can help guide a first time mom through pregnancy and childbirth while also teaching her older patients about menopause and preventative strategies. She believes in open communication and involving her patients in the medical decision-making process. "I consider it a privilege and honor to be your doctor and I hope to answer all your questions and concerns," states Dr. Tan.
Outside of the office, she enjoys cooking, traveling, and practicing yoga. These days, she can also be found spending as much time as possible with her husband and daughter.
At The New Mom Fair 2009, Dr. Tina Tan's topic is Prenatal and Postnatal Health - Taking Care of Yourself.
During her talk, Dr. Tina Tan will cover:
- Pregnancy and Nutrition - prenatal and postnatal nutrition
- Dieting - benefits / risks during pregnancy and after the baby is born
- Smoking - benefits / risks during pregnancy and after the baby is born
- Drinking - benefits / risks during pregnancy and after the baby is born
- Hormonal Imbalance - what it is, how to detect it, and how to deal with it
- Finding the Balance - taking care of yourself and others

Speaker Announcement!! "Avi Green Now!" to Speak at The New Mom Fair 2009
The New Mom, Parenting on the Peninsula, and BABI would like to welcome Avi and Michal Lenchner to The New Mom Fair 2009!
Avi and Michal are the founders of the non-profit organization - Avi Green Now! Together, they have been involved with environmental organizations and agencies up and down the Peninsula and throughout the Silicon Valley. As a licensed contractor for 23 years, Avi is a specialist in safe, non-toxic, and environmentally friendly products utilized in painting and home improvement. Michal writes for the Bay Area Examiner about green careers across all industries and environmental topics; practical information on how and where to get green resources in the San Francisco Bay Area including how to make your home safe for children and how to green your holiday gift giving.
Avi Green Now! will be speaking at The New Mom Fair 2009 and will be covering topics like:
- the differences between the environmental terminology being used today
- making your home living environment safe and non-toxic

Kaiser Permanente Joins The New Mom Fair 2009!!
Kaiser Permanente of Redwood City and South San Francisco have combined forces to reach out to the parenting community and all moms up and down the Peninsula and the Silicon Valley.
Kaiser Permanente wants parents and families to thrive and this year has found their way to The New Mom Fair.
